Birthdays are great. Everything about birthdays are fantastic. Cake, presents, parties…even birthday suits are pretty spectacular when someone shows you theirs. America’s birthday is right around the corner. You’ve heard the anthem of course. The part that references “bombs bursting in air,” tells you why fireworks are a thing on our country’s conception day. Now, I’m not sure if this is the year that we all tell America she was adopted, but it will still be a damn fun party nonetheless. The Grand Valley and Western Colorado will of course be putting on multiple shows for the holiday this year, just before a fire ban may drop (kudos on the timing, gang), and you’re going to want to be around for one, or maybe three, of those, yeah? Here’s the list.
Grand Junction – Parade on the 4th starting at 10 a.m., fireworks to follow GJ Jackalopes game on the 4th. Get tickets to the game and fireworks here.
Fruita – The annual 3rd of July ‘splosion fest is good to go. One thing to note, Snooks Bottom Open Space will be closed for the 3rd. That’s where they light ’em off at. Get more details about it here.
Palisade – Parade at 10 a.m. on the 4th, with a whole lot happening in Riverbend Park to follow. Get yourself in the parade here.
Delta – 4 day party people pay attention here. Delta is hosting their inaugural 4th of July Western Sky Balloon Festival and it goes from July 1st through the 4th. It’s quite the shindig…here’s your schedule.
Ouray – 4th of July parade planned at 10 a.m. Register for the 5k here. Water fights at 2 p.m., and fireworks at dusk. Looking for more?
Montrose – Parade and pancakes around 10 a.m. on the 4th. Live music, and fireworks for the get-down later that evening. Here’s your schedule.
Cedaredge – They do theirs on the 1st of July, with a parade, food, fun, beer gardens, and live music in the town park. Sounds like a nice little Saturday. Plan accordingly here.
Paonia – CHERRY DAYS BABAY! They go through July 3rd to the 4th. Plus, they’re natural diuretics. The cherries, that is. Check it out.
Collbran – It’s Plateau Valley’s Heritage Days, and it’s quite substantial. Be ready to throw down if you’re in Collbran for the big day. Here’s everything you need to know.
Enjoy celebrating. Keep your fingers. Happy 4th!
