Apparently, Colorado has become God’s favorite place for a campfire. That’s a really big S’more. I’m not really feeling like a toasty marshmallow, nor a half bar of melted Hershey’s…and I love me some food related puns. Hot Dog! See? Anywho, with most of your state on fire at the current time, you’ve most likely noticed the swaths of smoke that have settled in the Grand Valley. You can see it from all angles, driving down from Orchard Mesa, or commuting from Fruita to Grand Junction, or going anywhere on I-70. The Pine Gulch fire and the Grizzly Creek fire have burned a ton of acreage and all that smoke has certainly made itself right at home, on top of everything you do here in the valley. There are reports that have said the smoke is visible from the state’s eastern border, so that can give you an idea about how big it actually is, and how much it affects. It certainly affects the way you’re feeling. If you’ve been a bit scratchy in the throat, or even perhaps have a small drip in the nostril, chances are the smoke is bothering you. Mesa County Public Health has a great way for you to monitor the air quality and how much it can affect you…check out this cool map.
If you’re asking me to interpret it, please forgive me if I laugh at you. I do know, however, that there is an air quality advisory in place. Check it here.
